Autumn

Autumn

Autumn is my favourite time of year! I love the change of season. The colder darker nights gives you the excuse to eat comfort food and cosy up in bed or on the sofa watching films – obviously on weekends as week days are taken up with school runs and clubs for the kids, long working days, exercise and supermarket shops for me (what joy).

On Sunday I made Jamie Oliver’s ‘Bloody Mary Beef’. It was bloody amazing – thanks Jamie. The kids made an apple crumble with apples from our tree (the tree I normally curse for dropping rotten apples but for a crumble its fine). The perfect Sunday was finished off with the log burner lit and watching a film – obviously the obligatory family heated discussion of what to watch. Unfortunately for me it wasn’t a classic or a rom-com. It was ‘Inside Out‘. Great film but having watched it a couple of times before, it gave me the opportunity to have a sly snooze.

We are decorating our bedroom before Christmas. We have given ourselves a deadline as work and family life is so hectic, we never get things done around the house if not.

I’m currently sampling Farrow and Ball‘s Stiffkey Blue and a new colour Inchyra Blue. We are going for a dark and moody look.

With the opportunity to have new bedding, I’m swaying towards linen and velvet to be super cosy. Faux or no – that is the question. I’m thinking Faux plants purely because I’m not green fingered at all and it would be another ‘thing’ to look after so I’m comfortable with faking it on this occasion.

I will post photos of the work in progress.

Next, Christmas is looming but before, we have fireworks, school plays, a planned shopping/theatre trip to the big smoke with my mum, lots of stew to eat and fires to make and of course a bedroom to finish. Would you go for Stifkey Blue or Inchyra Blue?

I’m way too scared to put such a bold colour on my walls, I think you have to really know what you’re doing, like you! I do agree on the faux plants, unless you get succulents. They are the only thing I can keep alive. And your cosy day sounds perfect xx
