Simpsons Fish & Chip Shop
The ever popular Simpsons Fish & Chips already had a restaurant that sat 40 people, but was dated in looks and always fully booked. The aim for the refit was to increase the seating numbers and bring the interiors to sit alongside their branding, ethos and younger vibe.
The brand follows red, white and blue/black and has a strong British feel. James and Bonny (the owners) were delighted to find a very large Union Jack flag which we framed to cover a whole wall where we positioned a poseur table for 10. This further reinforces their ‘Britishness’ feel.
Heavy scaffold board tables add to the industrial style of the interiors, whilst other tables are colour coded laminated tops to keep within the colour scheme whilst easy to clean. We scaled back the sizing on some of the tables which are all square edged and can be pushed together to make up different number combinations to allow flexibility.
The restaurant now seats 64 so we achieved our goal, however since winning the award of UK’s no.1 Fish and Chip Shop the restaurant still remains full! The flooring is commercial grade so easy to clean and we added a patterned boarder which sits along the bar area and follows the line of bench seating. The seating is a combination of upholstered and wooden seats to cater for all ages, and we also have deep button backed navy leather booths with bench seating – courtesy of Abbey furnishings.
Wooden Pins have hand painted a wall featuring elements of the sea in a fun way, incorporating chips on chip forks, mermaids and a branded lighthouse all within a rope detail boarder. We added fun factor with a personalised message light box that can be changed to fit an occasion and branded toilet signs that show babies, wheel chairs as well as men and women.
The project was completed for a successful launch party, where we received great feedback and positive comments. The most important thing is we hit the brief and quick 3 week deadline. The client is very happy and so were we and what’s more they are now the number 1 UK chip shop to boot.
